6. Call Routing

3 min readVoice

The next step is to create voice routing. This is how Microsoft Teams will route your calls. For detailed information, please follow the steps described by Microsoft here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/direct-routing-voice-routing

For the sake of simplicity, below is a quick guide on how to route ALL calls made from Microsoft Teams to the Atomic platform.

Create a PSTN Usage Record

On Microsoft Teams Admin Panel:

  1. In the left navigation of the Microsoft Teams Admin Center, go to Voice > Direct Routing, and then in the upper right corner, click on Manage PSTN usage records.
  2. Click Add, type Global and then click Apply. You can enter any name you like, just remember the name you use as it will come back later.

Create Voice Routes

The below steps will route all calls to the Atomic platform. You can customise this based on your requirements.

  1. In the left navigation of the Microsoft Teams Admin Center, go to Voice > Direct Routing, and select the Voice routes tab.
  2. Click Add, and then enter a name and description for the voice route. For the sake of simplicity, you can name it 'RouteAll'.
  3. Set the priority to 1 and specify the dialled number pattern. Again, for simplicity sake you can use ^/*, which would mean all calls.
  4. Next you need to enroll an SBC with the voice route, under SBCs enrolled, click Add SBCs, select the domain name that was provided in the Atomic platform. Leave the SBC FQDN blank and click Apply.
  5. To add PSTN usage records, under PSTN usage record, click Add PSTN usage, select the previously created PSTN record ("Global"), and then click Apply.
  6. Click Save.

Create a Voice Routing Policy

  1. In the left navigation of the Microsoft Teams admin centre, go to Voice > Voice routing policies, and then click Add
  2. Type AllCalls as the name and add a description
  3. Under PSTN usage records, click Add or remove, select the "Global" (created in the earlier step) PSTN usage record and make sure everything else is unchecked, and then click Apply
  4. Click Save.

Assign the Voice Routing Policy to a User

  1. In the left navigation of the Microsoft Teams admin centre, go to Users > Manage users, and then click on a user
  2. Click Policies, and then click Edit
  3. Under Voice routing policy, select the "AllCalls' policy, and then click Apply
